Right-Click on the page, and select "Block Content", then click on the Ads you want to block, when your done, click "Done"

There are <a href="http://www.google.com/search?q=opera+ad+block">various</a> UserJS and lists you can use if that's not enough.

You can also use the urlfilter.ini file. There's instructions at Tamil's blog here - http://my.opera.com/Tamil/blog/ad-block I use Tamil's optimised filter and find it works well.
A straight line may be the shortest distance between two points, but it is by no means the most interesting.

Opera 12.16 build 1860 on Windows 8 (and I'll be sticking with version 12 and not 'upgrading')
