Tabs burn CPU - anything I can do to save the planet?
Don't get me wrong: I love tabbed browsing. And I post here because my family still use Opera as our preferred browser. But as Opera comes "out of the box", I increasingly have an issue with tabbed browsing: with more and more web pages using all sorts of fancy (often flash) animation, having lots of those pages open just churns CPU cycles. For nothing, since most of those pages aren't actually visible. Some of these pages are so aggressive these days, they literally lift the base load on my CPU by a whopping 10%. Is there anything that I could configure that would instruct Opera to suspend processing of web pages that aren't in focus/visible? (Turning off JS and Flash isn't really an option.) If not, is there somewhere that I could log such a feature request? Thanks.
PS: Opera's JS engine rocks!!
