Modifying Opera preferences from user CSS or JS

Dear Opera Community,

Since GMail webmail user interface renders very slow in Opera 9.64 on my Pentium 3 machine (unlike other pages), I have to find a soultion for this problem: smooth scrolling is jerky and laggy so I want to disable it but only on this site. There is no option like this included in Right Click -> Site Preferences, but there is a way to include user-defined JavaScript and user CSS that gets parsed upon loading a web-page.

Is there a way to modify Opera settings (like smooth-scrolling) from user CSS or JavaScript?

Thanks in advance
