10.5x eBay and Amazon Log-in Problems

I assume that this is not common because I have not found any other posts about it. However, ever since Opera version 10.5x it will not let me log in to Amazon or to eBay. On eBay I get returned immediately to the username/password screen after clicking log-in. On Amazon I end up at the next page as expected, but then the next click always returns me to the un/pw screen.

I have only had this particular machine (running XP) for 6 months, so it is not like I have upgraded Opera through countless versions.

Any ideas? Cheers!

Edit: I should add that I am using the .co.uk versions of these sites.

One possible solution that has not been mentioned in this thread is to check the Security Protocols. Several posters were having trouble with the UK ebay site. Here is the link to the sign in page: https://signin.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SignIn&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2F To the right of the address is a box
with a locked padlock and signin.ebay.co.uk. Click in that box or press Alt + Enter. A Security Information window will display and the Security tab should be at the forefront. In the lower left corner it says:
Encryption protocol
TLS v1.0 128 bit ARC4 (2048 bit RSA/MD5)

Go to Preferences > Advanced > Security > Security Protocols. Enable TLS 1 needs to be checked. Click on Details and the 128 bit ARC4 (RSA/MD5) cipher needs to be checked. Both of these need to be enabled in order to login. In a clean install of 10.5x, Enable SSL 3, TLS 1, TLS 1.1, & TLS 1.2 are checked. In the Details >> section, the first 5 ciphers that begin with 0 bit and Anonym are not selected and all others are enabled.

Right. I deleted cookies4.dat but in a different location to the one listed and it worked.

I did a search by going to the command line (Start > Run > cmd [ENTER]) and typing
c:
cd\
dir cookies4.dat /s

It listed about six or seven cookies4.dat files. All except one were a few bytes in size. One was 2 megabytes, so I deleted that one. Problem solved. I can now log in to ebay.co.uk

My cookie file was in c:\Documents and Settings\myusername\Application Data\Opera\Opera

Worked for me I deleted every one I found!

If after checking your security settings it does not work, delete ebay related cookies or try closing Opera and rename your cookie file to something like bcookies4.dat or dcookies4.dat. Opera will create a new file when it starts up. In the event you need your cookies, you haven't lost them by renaming the file.

Thanks, the cookie fix worked for me.

Opera 10.5x has been doing other weird things too, I'm not sure that their testing procedures have been as good as before for this version.

Easy fix for Opera ver 10.50 not allowing you to log in to Ebay.

Reinstall your OPERA
For instance my opera install program that I saved in my Download Files Folder is called:
I Run,
Opera_1050_en_b2_Setup

I tell OPERA to "Repair"

Now, Ebay allows you to log in your ID and Password.

I lost the ability to Log In when I accepted an Ebay Java file.
