3 MB of Space?
Edit: I didn't mean this to come out harsh or rude; it is just an opinion of mine. Please don't hold it against me! I feel it is something that should've been considered in 2006, seriously. It was like this four years ago when I signed up. That is less space then half of the emails I get a day. So many people send images as attachments, etc. the 3 MB storage gets used up really fast. That's not even enough for a full digital photograph! Back when I first joined Opera, was when GMail was still in invite only, and everyone was using HotMail because they offered more then one hundred megabytes of email space, whereas Yahoo stayed at 100, and deleted anything old.
I'm disappointed with this Opera. I'm usually happy with Opera, but this just simply disappoints me.
You guys bought FastMail out, they are known, OperaMail is known, but with three megabytes of space, I don't think you guys would be able to compete anywhere near other well known email sources?
What happens if I recieve something that is 3.1 megabytes? The premium is ridiculous as well, 25 MB? 15.99 for 25 megabytes of space? Google will up your 7 GigaBytes to lets see roughly 30 gigabytes for that much.
The web has changed a lot since 2002, Opera, I'm sad to say, my favorite browser, but you're not a good email company. You're great at browsers, but not at email. You guys introduced premium in 2002 but you guys have failed to do what a company should have done, to keep up with the times.
You guys reference to this chart a lot: http://www.opera.com/why/operamail/
It doesn't help that chart doesn't exist when it is referenced constantly. I can kind of see why it disappeared. HotMail and Yahoo whom you guys 'compared' it to, are now minor compared to GMail, and it would make Opera not have very many checkmarks.
Opera, it has been eight years, since premium came out. It has been even more years since the free version came out back in '98. Twelve years opera, you guys created an amazing and world renowned product, a great browser, but your email got the back burner. I feel this buying out of FastMail is a bad move, because, nobody trust's Opera for email now, because our trust was betrayed years ago when Opera failed to compete with others.
Opera, you guys use images of trend young people on the site, and appeal to the internet savvy population in the twenties and late teens, I'm a part of that group, and this is me, speaking not for myself, but for many, please pull some things together and fix the email system or drop it all together.
I'm honestly hoping that your move of buying FastMail is a sign of good things to come.
I suggest really considering raising that to a few gigabytes to increase confidence. And the inactive accounts thing has gotta go:
Please note that once an account is deactivated, all the account
content such as messages and folders will be deleted. All incoming
mail to a deactivated account is bounced back to the sender.
To keep your account active, you must log in at least once every 60 days.
Only Yahoo does that still... in my opinion. Don't follow a dying trend OperaMail, be like the browser, Opera, MAKE THE TRENDS. You guys are known for cutting edge browser technology, techniques and ideas. Why can't OperaMail do this?
OperaMail was outsourced (or something) to OutBlaze. Opera itself couldn't make any change to the service at all and was sort of stuck. (Do a forum search for more detail.) Now they've bought Fastmail, expect something better.
operamail, really needs to change there interface it seems to me like 2002 interface web mail that is.
if only they put more effort into operamail it would compete with other services like hotmail and gmail, give it more storage and improve the interface slightly but untill this happens i think i'll stay with gmail for now.

With all the free mail alternatives, I don't know why someone would limit themselves to opermail or fastmail and PAY for it.
