other smtp doesn't work in opera

Hello all!

My company changed the smtp port from 25 to 465. I changed the port in the email settings in opera and since then all my emails stay in the outbox. I already double checked the login data and they are correct. Also I used another email client to test the connection and this worked without any problem.

Does Opera 10.53 (Windows) doesn't support alternative smtp ports?

Thank you all for your replies.

Opera surely does support alternative SMTP ports (I use such one and it works good). Sadly, I don't know what could be Your problem caused by.

Does the new port require that you use TLS? If so, you'll need to enable it in the settings.

Also, in the account's settings under the outgoing tab, check "queue messages", OK out and close the account list. Then, go back in and uncheck it.

Also, make sure authentication is set to auto.

If you're sure everything's correct, Ctrl + F12 -> advanced -> security -> manage certificates -> approved tab. Do you see any entries in there relevent to your email server?

Finally, install another Opera separately with a separate profile (do not upgrade your existing install) and see if things work fine in it.

Thank you for your replies.

There is no problem with the authentication or the certificate settings.

I will try to install a separate copy in a vm...

If you Have TLS checked for the smtp server in the account's properties and it doesn't work, try disabling TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 in "Ctrl + F12 -> advanced -> Security -> Security Protocols". Then, restart Opera and try the connection then. If that helps, post the location (smtp.example.com) of the smtp server.
