Back Button and Google

Since upgrading to the 10.5 series, the Back Button is acting up only when using Google Search. If you perform a search in Google and select a link you are taken to the link successfully. Upon clicking the Back button, you are taken back to the Google search results for a few seconds and then immediately returned to the link you initially had chosen. When trying to return to Google search results, you are taken to the page prior to Google search results which was Google. What gives. I have seen others on here express the same concern yet no one will either acknowledge them nor provide a solution. This is extremely annoying when searching from Google. I have to open each link in a new tab for now.

Win 7 64 Ultimate on 2 laptops. Same issue for both. Don't suggest reinstalling windows as that is not an option. I will drop Opera first.

same thing here.
Google was fine on 10.10 until a few weeks ago - google must have changed some javascript which causes the back button problems. Upgraded to 10.53 and the problem remains. win xp pro sp3.
Not a problem on linux 10.10

Maybe that's because most of us are not seeing the problem? I'm not, but you're apparently not alone. So what's different about your setups? It doesn't seem likely tobe a difference between Win 7 and Win XP as I am also using XP.

Try moving operaprefs.ini from your profile folder (Help, About Opera). This will reset Opera to a default installation. You will lose any preference settings you have changed. If it doesn't work, just close Opera and move your old operaprefs.ini back again.

Removing operaprefs.ini fixed the problem (but it would've obviously been better not to have to do this after upgrading)
When i get a moment i'll look into why java plugin no longer works after upgrading...
Doesn't opera do any system testing / UAT before shipping?

Similar problem here, but mostly with Wikipedia pages. Follow a few links and then when you want to go back using the back button, you end up at the speed-dial and everything in between is gone.
It is an intermittent problem.

They used to - since 10.5, they seem to have outsourced it to the lowest bidder.

ok - first off, there's another post on this problem

http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=553471&t=1276513388

also - i just tried something. i had my site preferences to mask my browser as firefox at google (for that picture thing they did last week). switching to identify as firefox still saw the problem occuring. however, when i identified it as opera, the problem vanished. can someone else please verify this?
