I'm afraid it may just be you, or perhaps more accurately the connection point you may be using for Opera Mobile. Downloads for me are blazingly fast with this version. Do you perhaps have Turbo enabled? From what I understand (I don't use it personally) it can prove problematic with downloads.

Using Opera 10.53 for Windows desktop, I tried turning "Turbo" on and immediately had an appalling browsing experience.
Almost any pages that would normally load within seconds at most immediately took minutes to download - literally minutes. In many cases a simple page like http://www.bloomberg.com or a news story would take more than 5 minutes to load, and the majority never actually finished loading.
I waited up to 15 minutes and could never get the last graphic on Bloomberg news stories, and, usually, one of the last elements to load (and, being last, usually did not load) was the text of the news story. So I get all the graphical rubbish surrounding it but not the text.
I can see Opera fetching various elements of the page one by one in slow motion; something must be seriously wrong for it to consistently fail to load easily-available page elements.
I just cannot imaging how a feature like "turbo" got into production when it reliably produces an disastrous experience like this whenever it is turned on.
