Is it Right for women to preach the Bible?

Can a woman preach? If Yes, kindly consider this Scriptures 1corr14V33-37, 1Timothy2V8-14.

Why not?

This IS 2010, right?

A woman can read and recite fiction as well as a man.

Why not its not the truth so it does not matter .

I am a Juggalo... I am an individual guided by Light... I know who I am and who I want to be. I recognize that the path to Shangri La requires an open mind... I shall not judge. I am part of a Family... I shall Love my Family as I would my blood. I shall do my Family no harm as I know what is done to others shall surely be done to me. I shall strive to honor my Family and not disgrace their name.

My neighbour is a Baptist preacher. They had a big fight when she was hired. She is a good neighbour and man she can sing...I have been to one service and she can blow the roof off that church. She is getting along just fine now. Far as I know anyone can preach in fact I think a Christian is mandated to do just that. Paster ? ,well that depends on denomination and interpretation of the Bible, for bible churches anyway.

I find that the penis plays a big role in a preacher's/priest's job. The penis channels the holy energy from the bible directly into the congregation. Without the penis, the preacher/priest cannot deliver a warm injection of god's love into his audience.

i have a comment for that last one...but...
on the other hand
the man is the head of the house
and i believe that the Bible says that Jesus is the head of the Church and the Church is His wife...so...my answer for this would be that since Jesus is the head of the Church, and man is the head of the household...and according to the Bible...

1 Corinthians 14:34-35
“34 ¶ Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but [they are commanded] to be under obedience, as also saith the law. 35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.”

um..... right

What went into the Bible was decided by a council of men. So yes I think women can preach. Besides, how literally do most people live by the bible anyhow? They have sex before marriage, they live together without being married, all kinds of stuff. So how are we all the sudden to pick and choose that "this" is wrong or right.

In doubt it's a free speech issue - the bible itself and plenty of useful translations are public domain. That doesn't mean they have to let you do it in any particular church but they can't really keep you from preaching.

I would say no.
If one ignores corinthians then ive seen Women are very emotional~when they confess in front of the church by either cry or shake always.so how many minutes wasted in congregation to wait for that person to be back in her minds, and the focus of the "church people" will be on that particular women which will lead to forgetting what was preached from the opening of the congregation.

The bible makes women do the bitch work while the man is in total control.the woman takes the wrap for everything and this shows the bible was written by man not god.so i believe the bible needs to be put aside in the fairy tale section of the library

Why not.Jesus said to his disciples when they stopped a man from praying in his name that if he was for them why should they be against him.Furthermore,it was Paul who was talk to the Corinths due to the circumstances that surrounded the church at that present tym and also understand that in the Jewish community women were looked down upon as part of the man's property as part of there customs

I don't believe it's right for anyone to preach the Bible.. I believe it's for personal growth.

From the pulpit NO. But elsewhere, her children, anybody who cares to learn, she can teach the bible. When off the pulpit and a man is with her, she has to respect his authority by wearing a head covering and allowing him to do prayers.

Can I ask exactly how wearing a "head covering" shows that a woman "respects" the male's authority?
What is the symbolism involved here?
Should not the woman cover instead her eyes or ears such that she cannot pass judgment on the male?

Why is it that the religionists so often choose not to answer legitimate questions about their beliefs?

It seems that when pressed for answers, they simply choose to ignore the more cogent thinkers amongst us. Is it that they don't have any answers?

Hello. How is everyone tonight? I just wanted to stop in a minute. Just downloaded this and read this Bible believers vs. Atheists discussion tonite. Just noticed that atheists seem to be sarcastic in their answers. Seem to be, cuz I'm new and really don't know any of you. I did have an opinion/answer on the comment on bible believers not being as intelligent and having an answer to everything they supposedly believe from the bible. Just for me, (cuz this should just be our own opinions, not facts - Respect everyones beliefs - Don't be rude) When I don't completely understand something in the Bible, it's called FAITH. I have the faith to believe it, while I research it. So, no. I don't have all the answers. But, yes. I do have faith. To me, Faith is WAY more valuable than to have ALL the answers. Thanks. And its very nice to meet everyone here. Gnite.

Welcome to the forum, makayla10.

Maybe I can explain something which might clarify some attitudes here.

Being a Christian you would no doubt be askance at some (hypothetical) non-Christian primitive religion that was cannibalistic and followed the practice of eating old people's brains because they believed that transfered to them the wisdom of the person that was eaten. They might hold a passionate belief in the sense and righteousness of what they are doing, but I doubt if you would yourself be able to respect their belief. You might respect the person for other reasons, but not the belief.

To an atheist, looking outside all religions, and faced with all sorts of beliefs ranging of the gamut of what one should eat, wear, attitudes to women, whether to grow a beard, and a whole host of religious rules which vary from religion to religion, not to mention tales of mythical and magical events, it is very difficult to respect those beliefs however one might like the believer.

Religion is an important issue and governs what many people do on this Earth so it is important to atheists whether they like it or not. A frustration for the atheist is that there appear to be no answers whatsoever to justify strange practices and rules other than instantiated "Faith".

It is not only atheists that are uncomfortable with some of the more extreme behaviour codes that beset religion. This accounts for the large number of sects within the Christian Faith for example, and many Christians do not take everything in the Bible literally but rather as allegorical.

In this forum, to generalise, most ire from the atheist community here is reserved for the religion fundamentalist who believes everything that is written in their holy source.

The OPERA forum will close on March 1st.
However there is an escape route where many of us are gathering to avoid Armagedon:
see The DnD Sanctuary for gaming, for discussions on Browsers or anything in particular, and just Lounging about.

Hi. Thank u for that quick reply. I think how u said all that was very respectful. I guess that's mainly what I meant anyway. That's all I meant. I didn't understand why if atheists r so satisfied with there beliefs, they come across so sarcastic, inconsiderate, and rude at times. I don't mean everyone of course. Just a few of the examples I read. If your not internally happy with ur beliefs, why believe it? Just for me, I wanna live happy so its imperative for my belief to make me just that. And when I'm satisfied and complete on the inside, I won't come across rude and/or sarcastic on the outside. Since u can't tell here by looking at someones eyes,,, you can still read a lot by exactly how they text. That's all I was talking about. If ur rude and defensive about your own nbeliefs,, how can u be truly happy?? Just my perception. Thx. And gnite again...
