Search Box Google

I use Opera both on the desktop and mobile.
I have however, the problem with the Opera 10.53 search box using XP sp3
When I type a search term inside the search box, being Google the default search engine, it seems like if the enter key of my keyboard is broken. It just doesn't "enter". No matter the version, several upgrades are past and the problem persists.
Recently I have reinstalled windows and Opera 10.53, but the problem persists. To overcome this situation I have made Google my home page, and from there it runs perfectly but I'm getting pretty tired of the problem.
Is there a cure for this? ...

Do you use custom keyboard setup?

No, it's not costumized. The search using the other standard engines - yahoo, amazon, wikipedia, ebay - works perfectly, only google doesn't run from the search box.

1\ A quickie... try Right Click the toolbar, select CUSTOMIZE, then choose RESET TOOLBAR TO DEFAULTS. There were changes to the skins in 10.5x which messed with some custom skin layouts. This then had a strange knock-on effect on the search.

2\ Check what exactly is in your Google Search. Check SETTINGS \ PREFERENCES from main menu. Select the SEARCH page. Now locate the Google search and check the details.
