Why does opera 10.53 continue to search from address bar?
I have unchecked the preference: Addressbar Content Search, but Opera still searches for an address. Is this a known bug (Windows XP SP3) ?
My company creates many special one-word aliases that automatically directs you to a path on the intranet but Opera ignores the entry I type and tries to search via Google
I think that option just stops it from searching your bookmarks and history. Probably a different setting to turn off searching in the address bar. If that's even possible!

I agree with you, oke. For now, I figured out a workaround: type your one word address and end it with a slash. For example, if you want to reach the server called intranet, type intranet/ into the address bar. I'm not sure if it's compatible with the redirects or aliases in use at your company, but it's worth a shot.
