all 10.50+ builds - search dropdown
The new Opera search dropdown:- wastes too much screen space (it's bloated)
- it also adds two useless lines:
a copy of default search engine on top - a) it is unneeded in case it's the first engine and b) the default engine could just be shown in bold font.
"Search with" line - has reversed the drop button to the left like in that other browser (eeeeeek, any Windows app's drop lists are toggled with a button on the right)
- ignores separators set manually in search.ini between groups of search engines
- does not provide a way to customize its appearance in other skin (or is it published somewhere?)
The old search dropdown was tidy, neat and handy and in line with any application's UI.
However if one tries to put the oldschool dropdown on toolbar:
- it would span across the entire window width in unrolled state which makes the search unusable of course
- in its default state it does not show currently chosen search engine icon.
- it isn't skinned if a default Opera skin is chosen
Can't use 10.50...
Almost half a year has passed and nobody cares, I know, I know, no need to remind me of this...
However all those missing the old behaviour and look would be very grateful if someone shows a working way to update an old skin to make the search look the classic way.
