Opera freezes, CPU usage skyrockets (50-90%) for about 30-45 seconds when opening/closing tabs!

Within the last couple of days, I've encountered an issue across multiple versions of Opera (on both 9.64 and even after upgrading to 10.53), where, when either attemping to open a new tab or close an existing one, my browser freezes for approximately 30-45 seconds while gorging my CPU; usage surges to anywhere from 50-90%, generally hovering in about the 70-80% range. I've never experienced this problem prior to this weekend.

I've attached a screencap of the "leak" after closing a tab (the "Critters" one on top).

get process explorer and watch opera's cpu usage and see what thread is causing it,most likely a plugin.

Well, I'm not Process Explorer guru, but looks like first thread, "opera.exe", is eating CPU. Especially that this behavior is not directly connected to loading flash/whatever content on any tab.
