[3386] MAJOR BUG when pressing SPACE

When will Opera fix the space-thing ? When I press spACE i want opera to go down in the page , but it does always something different, sometimes it clicks a link or it even goes UP in the page... Please fix Opera so it goes down when pressing space like all other Browsers including Chrome, Firefox, IE.

It is totally inacceptable that often when pressing space Opera will just go to some link in the page, is this lottery or a serious browser ?

SPACE = GO DOWN IN THE PAGE (read further, scroll the page etc).

Please fix this MAJOR Bug NOW ONCE AND FOR ALL and halt all other development!

Thanks smile

Space goes down until there's no down. Then it does fast forward. You can edit the key binding if you don't like that behavior.

Also that has nothing to do with beta testing, does it? Seems more of a wishlist item.

A hit on my spacebar makes my the webpage scroll down on Opera build 3386 which is what TS is asking for.cool

It's very useful. Try it on something like a search engine. Pressing space scrolls down. Then when you press space again when there's nothing left to scroll, it goes to the next page.

If you just want to scroll down without fast forward, use the PgDn button on your keyboard or edit the key binding (I use space for entirely different purposes, for instance).

I can not reproduce your problem. Just try a reinstall or get a new profile.

Bug? Me 'tinks not.

I would have never thought the Space bar would do that. The DOWN ARROW key or Pg Dn does that.

Other browsers seem to have copied Opera at some point, but they forgot about fast forward. Their loss.

It depends on what has focus. If something on the page has focus, then space will not scroll. If a text field has focus, you get a space. If a checkbox has focus, you toggle the checkbox. Etc.

Anything where fast forward is activated will do; you could try here, for instance. Or any thread on this forum with more than one page.

Can't reproduce, if you're talking about the reported issue (not scrolling).

Oh, I'm not saying anything's wrong. All's working exactly as intended here. I think the OP probably has some issue with either focus on some element or fast forward.

Ok, to clarify: The INTENDED behavior - which I personally like very much, and which does work flawless here - is the following:
-As already mentioned, as in any other application, if a control has focus it interacts with that
-If nothing has focus, Opera does a page-down or - if the page has reached the bottom - it will do a fast forward.

It has always been like this, and it still works for for me.
