WinRAR compressed skins are not showing in Opera
I have modified some skins that I have downloaded, but when I compress them using WinRAR and put them into Opera's skin folder they are not listed and sometimes they even cause other installed skins to not be shown, either.Even when I uncompress and re-compress a successfully installed skin file, it does not work. For example :
1) Close Opera.
2) Copy installed_skin.zip from C:\Documents and Settings\*MY USER NAME*\Application Data\Opera\Opera\skin to my downloads folder.
3) Use WinRAR to unzip installed_skin.zip in my downloads folder.
4) Delete the installed_skin.zip file.
5) Use WinRAR to make a new installed_skin.zip file
6) Copy new installed_skin.zip file back to C:\Documents and Settings\*MY USER NAME*\Application Data\Opera\Opera\skin.
7) Open Opera, select Appearance and under Show installed skins Opera does not list the new installed_skin.
WinRAR has successfully compressed files for other programs, and has even successfully compressed a modified skin for an older version of Opera (version 8 or maybe 9). Am I doing anything wrong?
I would be grateful for any help.

Are you sure you are:
1. Compressing it as ZIP and not RAR?
2. Compressing only the Skin.ini and folders, and not the root folder that contains those?
3. Have no other options in WinRAR that would affect it (SFX, Don't Store Paths, Only Attr "Archive", or time-based, etc)
4. Does your "Downloads" folder have any special permissions set, that would not allow Opera to read the file?
- Multiple user acounts (Groups, Owners, etc), encryption, etc...

Another reason could be the name of the skin. The fine may say "NEW" installed skin but it wouldn't say that under Appearance. You might have 2 skins with the same name. To change that you have to make sure in the Skin.ini file you changed the Name under [Info].
If not that could be what Vectronic said.
