Activate plugin by hoovering over it

I find it a bit annoying that I have to click youtube (flash) videos in order to take control over them. I've read that there's some patent shit involved, but I was wondering if it is possible to make Opera "activate" plugins simply by hoovering over them.
That way nobody would notice?

The "not noticing" part is the bad part. You NEED to click to avoid litigation from Eolas on US patent 5,838,906 (I don't recommend you using Mozilla's Firefox, but since that's a non-profit organization, it has been granted free use of this patent by Eolas. M$ on the other hand, had to license this "technology").

Flash is a devil, so activation of this rubbish must be very explicit. Click is OK.

Here is this patent: http://www.google.com/patents?vid=USPAT5838906&id=T-V2AAAAEBAJ&dq=5,838,906.
You can look also here: http://www.w3.org/2003/09/public-faq.html.

I'd have thought that clicking was easier and less likely to damage the screen than getting out your vacuum cleaner. p

You can fix this through user JavaScript (as embedding via JavaScript isn't covered by the patent, apparently). YouTube used to embed via JavaScript, circumventing the problem, but their new layout doesn't (possibly as the workaround was no longer required for IE and Google don't care one jot about Opera users). Patent trolls are a pain in the backside, but what can you do? sad

I personally opt for pulling out of the us (by closing down their office there) then they can't get sued (seriously, US marketshare is sh** anyway so nobody will notice) wink

Make a 2nd version of Opera, one for the broken American, & another one for the rest of the world.
I don't think the rest of the world should "paid" for the mistake of US's retarded software laws, & their law makers' stupidity.
Let 'em get an inferior browser because they refused to fix their broken patent laws...

Anyway, does anyone patented "No click to switch focus from plug-ins back to browser" yet? sherlock
