Google Earth view is not supported for your browser.

"Earth view is not supported for your browser", apparently.

Why on Earth not, and is there a way round this?

I'm having the same problem with gmap3d.
The plugin is present and in Operas plugin list.
It doesn't work at all if I identify as Opera, it just tells me I have an unsupported browser.
Identifying as another browser doesn't help.
Masking as IE triggers a plugin download, which appears to work but still says I need it afterwards (guess that's the ActiveX control for IE).
Identifying as Firefox produces some joy, but all I get is a loading icon which never completes!
Is there any answer to this or is this yet another of the many sites I will have to still use IE for?

Apparently there isn't a way round it.

Fortunately we have alternatives to Opera.

More of what will probably be called whining from me - going to google maps gives me this message at the top of the screen -

Still loading... Slow? Use the troubleshooting guide or basic HTML.

I was trying to use Street View. Works absolutely fine in Firefox so it must be another Opera "feature".

Download and install GoogleEarth instead. http://earth.google.com/

Works better than the online version too.

Certainly, not using Opera to access this service would be a good way round the problem. I'd rather be able to use Opera, though.

Probably Earth view plugin size is similar to standalone Earth application. GoogleEarth as an app was available far before browser blugin was, so Plugin is a way round wink.

I've had the same problem, but it was caused by blocked content ( *gstatic* from www.gstatic.com ), so try and disable Blocked Content first.

Thanks, but there's nothing blocked on that page. As soon as I go to maps in the search engine, I get the yellow "still loading..." message". Opera just can't cope with google maps. Opera needs to fix it. It's a pain opening up Firefox.

I don't really know what you're suggesting I do here.

I meant you wrote that using Google Earth application is "a good way round the problem", but using a browser plugin (generally, not for Opera as it doesn't exist) is a real way round, as standalone application was the first one to access this service.

In other words, the stand alone application came first and is the better, more complete version. The in-browser plug-in is the work-around.

See here :

(and before you ask, we are painfully aware that the Earth plug-in on Google Maps isn't working. We are working on solving that too. It is unrelated to the patch above.)

Thanks for finding that.
Good news, let's hope it's fixed for the release of 10.54!

Not working for me either on 10.60 final. Google Maps loads then freezes Opera! Seems to work for some users but not others?
