Why my Unite servers are down for right now...
I think there is a severe security problem with Unite. The other day I noticed that my Photo Share server suddenly had a password on it. I never have a password on Share Photos. Not only that but there was no folder specified as its source. I also found that half of my music collect was deleted. The folder dos not exists. I have run three different Trojan and virus scanners and found none. I did a disk check for all of my drives and all showed up fine.So I am very upset that I could lose half of my music around 40 to 45,000 songs. It was the folder that I had music for every year from 1900 to 2010. Do you know how many years it took to build it.....
Thanks in Advance...

sorry but i fail to see hot this could be opera's fault in any case... do you use wireless network? is your router password protected? your music collection might be accessible through other machines on the same network... opera can't change your files, nor can anyone who access those files through unite...
what you are describing sounds like somebody may have gotten onto your computer and inadvertently installed a new Player on Unite. Having a password would happen if there had been a new install which is on pass by default. and it would not be pointed to a folder yet. If you have children, roommates or others that have access too your computer when Opera Unite is running they could do this , unless you have window under password.
Before you give up on you tunes, check your recycle bin if you are running windows also do a Google search on undelete . If You remember the folder name you might pull up you command pomp and type undelete or something like that . when a computer deletes file it does so by removing the first letter of the name thus you file might have been called My_Music you would look for a file called y_Music and put the M back in when promped to do so. if that sounds like to much work get Norton Utilities it has undelete software.
Above all try not use your computer to much till you get your folder back. You risk overwriting your tunes till you get them back. right now the computer thinks that your folder is deleted ,unless you used a file shredder they are still there .How do you think cops find deleted files
I hope you find a way to get your tunes back
cheers!!

Well I should not have started this thread because I was having a visceral reaction to the predicament I found myself in and not an intellectual one.
When I built my current PC about 2 years ago I installed a high end Mobo from Asus called the P5K Deluxe/WiFi-AP. It had two duel Gigabit LAN controllers on the Mobo. One a Realtek RTL8110SC PCI and the other a Marvell Yukon 88E8056 PCI-E which I am not using right now. It also has a WiFi-AP 54Mbps IEEE802.11g on the Mobo. I have used the WiFi in the past but currently do not even have it enabled. As for my router I had to try to remember the password I put on it. I had a Belkin Wireless G router but when I changed to a business account with Comcast they told me I had to use their SMG router. So naturally I was a little forgetful of the passwords involved between the two.
I live alone and no one has access to my physical machine. AS for the undelete I have a scheduled disk defrag once a week. Naturally it was a bad time to have it do a defrag but it did happen. So I can not recover "undelete" any files. It is a WD 1TB drive half full of music and audio books.
The only suspicious behavior that I found on my machine was the HOSTS file . Some process had it and I could not get write access to it and all of my browsers where hijacked. So I have fixed that problem and have locked down this file.
Again I apologize for not being professional about this predicament that has found me.
I think that my servers where popular because I have seen up to 51 users connected to it at one time. So I am in the process of rebuilding my collection from backups from here and there. I may not get all of it but maybe 90%. I will just leave the folder that I have to rebuild out of Unite but make all else available. I could bring up Unite tomorrow for general use but I need to pull all of my case fans for a cleaning and oil maintenance. So maybe this weekend

It may not be all you weconsultants ... I just filed a bug report on a curious issue that developed with my stream_media Opera Unite application. After reading your post I decided to check all my OperaUnite Applications to make sure that the same thing had not occurred to my system.
I had just installed build 3390. Much to my amazement I found that the stream_media application that I had running was creating a html page that has no content list. It did, however, list the folder size correctly at 184 mb ( Luckily, I just have a few videos in there for testing) but every thing else was blank.
I have no access from ether the Admin page or the Preview as Visitor Page. I could access and play the content from a embedded web player on a page that I was serving up from the OperaUnite web server.
I filed a bug report on this issue US-2019 and I am hoping that The Developers will add a fix in the next build. I have tried to change content to force the stream_media application to generate and new html page with no luck. Since I am by no stretch of the imagination a programmer, my only other option would be to reinstall the application. For now I am in a wait and see mode, because of bad experiences with reinstalling OperaUnite Apps.
cheers!!
