Is it a "known feature" that keyboard runs amok if you use hw keyboard in Opera Mini 5

Ipaq 914c
WM6.1 (or 6.5)
Esmertec Jbed 20080912.5.1

How to reproduce ?

Start Opera Min 5.

Tab Address entry box, watch onscreen keyboard pop up.
Try using ANY of the built-in hw keyboard button, and watch every key repeat insanely - only stoppable by pressing either joystick arrow button, or backspace key.

Extremely frustrating.

Of course one can avoid pressing the hw keyboard and use the slooow but fancy looking onscreen alternative - but , come on... Why should we, when there's keys available smile

Can someone explain why this happens ? I can see it is noted by others too, but I havent yet found a "this is caused by XXX, and we don't have a clue how to fix it" - or similar - preferably , "we are in process of fixing it, it's a small bug in HP/Microsoft , but we can do it"

wink

In hopes of mending the coolest app for the lousy WM OS .....

I have a WM6 with HW keyboard , and :

Seen this on Samsung i780 but looks like they fixed it in latest versions. Check your build number. If it is below 19693 - update.

Thanks for commenting , and yes I was already at 5.0.19693 while having this BUG (deliberate uppercase, maybe a developer catches it smile )

Funny thing is that I have another install of Opera (danish 5.0.3521) running through the usual java midlet manager installed in Ipaq 914c, and it works flawlessly with the hardware keyboard !?

Could this be caused by my Esmertec Jbed , rather old version ???

It's not old version, it's too NEW.
Change your JBed version to May 2007 or earlier, later versions have this bug on keyboard phones. Or try to find the JBed patch by Sorg (maybe also by Cotulla) on Russian forums.
