Opera Turbo is no longer usable

Turbo was really great when I first started using it but now it totally slows me down. I'm on dial-up and it takes >10 seconds just to get connected with Turbo. Then, the loading speed shows around 500 kbits per second transfer. Without Turbo I get 3 to 4 kBytes per second and connecting is immediate. Turbo is now turned off.

My ISP is Toast.com and Opera Version 10.10 Build 1893 version 1.6
Version 12.16 Build 1860 Windows 7

Confirmed, it doesn't work in 95% cases. I thought it was my ISP's issue but now it seems that its not.

See if the solution offered in this post helps.

Are you using Opera for Desktop or Opera Mini? What kind of connection do you have?

I'm glad to see that others are also reporting the same issues with Turbo. In my original post I meant to say that the speed shows around 500 bits/sec loading rate when using Turbo. When clicking on a link, it usually takes > 10 seconds to start receiving data. So, for large pages, like newspaper main page, I turn on Turbo to do the main load, then turn it off to read the articles. Being on dial-up, every little bit helps. When Turbo first came out it worked great. Maybe there is too much load on the servers now.

Hi,

I would have to agree with the statements about Opera Turbo,I've had problems
with all the 10.54 builds which have been incredibly slow for web browsing
to the point where I was using Firefox just to get the page to load quick enough.
I having been using the new 10.6 Alpha build and I find so far its much more
quicker than previous builds for me and also quicker with turbo off.
I too thought it was my ISP but both IE8 and Firefox were loading the pages
in no time whereas Opera seemed to just sit there waiting for something.

cheers

I'm updating this to say that Turbo now seems to be working ok. I'm not sure what changed. Maybe the developers were reading this and made some change. It bothers me when things suddenly change for no reason.

im already reporting this since 10.50

in 10.10..the link that works was (operaglobal-turbo.mini.net)(something like that but GLOBALTURBO)
in 10.5x its(operabeta-turbo.mini.net)(even in 10.50 final using turbo BETA!!!????)

and also still present in 10.60 build 3409

the beta works in my side(No problem at that) but seems slow compared to that globalturbo

im on broadband BTW...but im a heavy downloader and browsing sites(TURBO ON) i visited works

i just hope for 10.60 FINAL it isn't BETA turbo

===============================================
addnote:

is the developers testing something or changing servers of that turbo site?wait

I'm still on Opera 10.10. I did the install of 10.5(which doesn't allow me to download it first) and a week laster my system somehow got restored backward and the 10.5 doesn't exist anymore. Sorry-fodder for another post. Opera needs to let me download into a folder of my choosing.

Is anyone getting this when Turbo is enabled?

Sometimes it shows this code instead of web pages, and sometimes not.

@lamer3d, yes, at times I'm getting same garbage as you, Opera 10.60 final on Windows XP SP3, dialup connection.
The only solution in this case is to disable turbo.
