Any tips for stretching a hose?

I've just spent the last hour unsuccessfully trying to stretch a length of hose over the nozzle of our new camping gas cooker. The shop's advice of soak it in hot water & bash it with a mallet has been done to death. I've poked all sorts of items up it & wiggled them round, but I'm not getting any further.

Any other ideas?

Use very hot water and put something tapered in the end and keep pushing it further in to expand it, then quickly remove and insert nozzle.
If this fails give up.

Karina says try Vaseline... and it being warm will help it... Maybe microwave or oven it?

Sorted now, my brother pointed out the screw on attachment that I should have been using.
