Status bar

I just upgraded from 10.10 to .53 (did clean install, didn't move any saved prefs after seeing how much the browser was changed) and I can't get status bar to show. I was used to have it at the bottom of the screen and check adresses of links in there. I do have status bar checked under view-toolbars section, but still nothing.
Anyone could explain what I am doing wrong please?

Shift+F12 -> Toolbars -> Enable/Disable status bar - is NOTHING happening? Try with "show hidden toolbars". You should at least see something happening. Are you using a default skin?>

I use default skin, yes.
When I go to the toolbars section and check status bar, it does show up in the yellow frame. But I just can't see it. If I enable it through View-toolbars-status bar, a line of pixels shows up at the bottom of the screen where the bar should be, but that's all. I don't have the slightest idea what am I doing wrong.

Weird. When it does "show up" - when you see the yellow frame - can you right-click on that and select "Reset Toolbar to Default"?

Weird. In the end I went into tools-preferences-advanced-toolbars and deleted standard_toolbar, and switched to default. Now it works. Apparently I removed some stuff from the status bar which caused this. The part I don't get is why I couldn't make it reappear...
