Windows live mail embedded links don't open automatically in Opera 10.53

Using Windows Live Mail, you can create what M$ call "photo emails" which contain a thumbnail which, when clicked, open a high-res pic in online storage.
In previous iterations of Opera, clicking automatically opened the image in Opera.
Since upgrading to 10.53, instead I get the "open/save" dialogue box
(All other apps seem to open jpegs OK in Opera)
Any ideas?
