Streams to Plugins

I tried to point streams to KMPlayer months ago, but it never worked, so I just made these changes:

mms \...\KMPlayer
rtsp \...\KMPlayer

to

mms \...\ wmplayer
rtsp \...\ wmplayer

wmplayer.exe did not work here. Can someone steer me right?

I kept "mp3 \...\KMPlayer" as it works well.

AND, I still want to get YouTube working again on Opera 9.64. ??

For example: The Chronicle of Higher Ed site had a simple audio clip that works fine in FF but does not even show in Opera.
Do I need to re-install a bunch of plug-ins to anticipate all contingencies? Where to check if they are already there? How to expedite this?
Please help.

Flash Player (Adobe)
QuickTime
RealPlayer
Shockwave Player (Adobe)
Windows Media Player

Are the plugins separate? Do I have to load the whole application(s)? Will one do, or do I need all of them to use the web?

O 9.64

So, will RealPlayer and WMP play the same media?

Do they have small "plugin" versions, or do you install the full applications?

I did not see any forums at the RealPlayer and WMP sites. Anyone know?

It seems there should be a place to get common plugin files to drop in an Opera directory. ???????????????????????????
