Widget upgrade in 10.53 Mac OS X

Hi all,
I upgraded from 10.10 to 10.53 on Mac OS X 10.6.3 and as asked by Opera, I followed the widget upgrade procedure. However, none of the two widgets I used to use has worked after the upgrade into an application: touchTheSky and multiWeather.

The former has an icon that shows up in the dock, the menubar changes to that app but no window or graphical element appears on the screen; in case the mouse pointer happens to be in the "right" place, the overlay buttons that appear on hover can be seen, but that's all. touchtheSky.png

The latter seems to behave normally but it's never able to establish a connection. I can leave it for an hour an it would remain in that same state. And establishing the connection used to take a split second in 10.10. multiWeather.png

Sorry if this has already been reported or discussed, but I didn't find them when searching the forum. Does anyone know how I can recover the widgets ? Thanks.

You could try and delete it. Remove it from /Applications, and then the helper files from, ~/Library/Application Support/Widget <widgetname>/ ../Caches/Widget <widgetname>/, and ../Preferences/Widget <widgetname>/ and then reinstall from here.

Though I haven’t heard of users having trouble updating these widgets before. What OS version are you using? Do they show up in Exposé?

Thanks for your post. But touchTheSky is no longer available on the widgets site and that was the most polished weather widget we've ever had.
I tried the steps you gave and it worked: multiweather is working fine now.

I am using Mac OS X 10.6.3 (but I've had exactly the same problems on Vista SP1! and when I say "exactly", I really mean it: no window showing up for touchTheSky and multiweather being unable to establish a network connection). When in Exposé, the screen section for touchTheSky is blank, as if the whole UI was transparent but multiweather shows up normally.

Correction: it worked the first day. Today, at launch, the widget has forgotten my town and is still unable to connect.

I quit using the widgets. Thanks anyway.
