About Speed Dial...

Is it possible to set a background for new tabs without using Speed Dial? That is, if I want to disable Speed Dial, is there some way to set a background that is independent of the feature?

Anyone knows why if there is a timer on a webpage, the timer will not countdown using opera mini? On normal web the timer would countdown but not on opera. Its like opera mini would stop receiving data from a webpage after it is loaded.

What you see on the speed dial is just a snapshot of a page - when you set it, Opera downloads that page and writes a thumbnail of it to the disk which is used till the next reload.

The most frequent reload you can have is one second. Practically two or three if the site does not load instantly. Some kind of a live preview would be great for what you're looking for, but it would be also a resource hog. It's not possible for now and I don't think it will ever be.

How to set background image

Click on 'Configure Speed Dial', check 'Enable background image', then choose a file to use.

Ctrl + T by default.

Except it does not work if you double click on a free space on the tab panel. It also defies the purpose of home page URL which someone could like to use to point to... a home page.

about speed dial...

...i was thinking of a couple of trivial features: it would be nice if it could load random background images from a selected folder. even better if it could synchronize with windows desktop wallpaper!
