How to delete several spam messages without displaying them

Hi all,

The sender and topic is usually more than enough to identify a spam message. I'd like to get rid of them more quickly and moreover not take the risk of displaying them.

I can do it for one message if I right click on it and select "Delete permanently" in the context menu.
However, the following message will then be automatically displayed and if it may also be a spam message.

Is there a solution to this issue, quicker than deleting them one by one, taking care to start from the last in the list ?

It would be nice if I could select them with ALT+CTRL pressed for instance, which would mean just select, don't display, and then you would delete them, permanently or not as you please.

Cheers,

Alexandre

As you said right click the first message but do not use the menu. Instead shift click another one to select a range of messages and hit shift del.

Or hold the CTRL key and click each Spam message if they're not all in sequence, then hit the 'Mark as Spam' or Delete button.

Up & Down, Round & Round, Out to the end of my string!

View button on mail toolbar -> display = List Only.

That way, messages don't open till you double-left-click on them. (For messages in All Messages/Sent or Drafts though, you'll need to press 'i' to toggle between the views if you want to read the messages instead of editing them.)

Also under display, make sure "Block external embeds" is checked. That way, opening a spam message won't be able to load remote content and will only show inline attachments local to the message source. That way, reading a spam message isn't as dangerous (unless you then choose to open up its attachments).

Anyway, as already said, ctrl + left-click selects/deselects messages. shift+click selects a range. Then, you just right-click on the selection and choose "Delete permanently" or shift + delete. It works just like it does with files in Windows Explorer.

Firefox has a button that deletes all messages marked as spam at once. Does Opera have the same operation?

*If* the message was marked as spam by Opera, then yes. You just right-click in the mail panel and choose "Move Spam to trash". Then, you can empty them from Trash. Or, you could ctrl+a in All Messages/Spam and choose "Delete permanently".
