Multi-Touch gestures on Mac
Hello there,I'd like to ask you a question, slash, give you a suggestion.
I'm currently transferring from Windows to MacBook and I want to take some of my habits with me. One of them is a browser. The main reason why I use Opera is because I love the mouse gestures.
But I am wondering how the gestures will work on the new trackpad since there's no way to move the cursor while right-clicked. Of course, I heard about the multi-touch gestures you added in version 10.5+ but I'm not sure if there's a space for important gestures like Reload, New Page, Stop or, most importantly, Switch To Previous/Next Page. I really got used to mouse gesture Up + Left/Right (which I think is a great idea BTW).
So my question/suggestion is, is it possible to assign a gesture to three-finger touch like Up + Left? Or Up + Down?
I don't know if applications like MultiClutch can do that. Thank you for your answer, hope you'll like the idea as much as I do.

I believe this is a regression from 10.10.
In 10.10 I can hold ctrl+shift and execute any mouse gesture on the trackpad that I can with a two button mouse. This no longer seems to work in 10.5x. With 10.5x I only have the multi touch gestures for pinch, expand, back and forward - leaving a large set of mouse gestures no longer executable from the ctrl+shift trackpad method from 10.10.
Is there a reason this functionality was removed? Can't we have multitouch and the old ctrl+shift+trackpad gestures coexist (are they still there and hidden in a setting?)

For clarity, I should have said ctrl + shift + click + trackpad gesture.
As far as I can tell, all mouse gestures that I want to use can be used on my 13" MacBook Pro with the multitouch trackpad which is also a button.
You just need to setup your Mouse Preferences that clicking the trackpad with TWO fingers constitutes as a right-click.
This way, you can press and hold two fingers, move down and release for opening a new tab, doing the same but moving down and then right for closing, moving left for previous, etc.

Thanks though I don't this is working on my 2008 macbook pro 15". Doing that will just cycle through Opera tabs.
actually i dont think shift was part of the gesture sequence i used to do. it was simply:
ctrl + click + trackpad gesture with one finger. This doesn't seem to be working at all in 10.53 for me.

Get Better Touch Tool (or an equivalent) - it's free and gives you way more power/flexibility with your touchpad (or a Magic Mouse).
I've got my Opera (and Safari for that matter, for occasional use) setup with these gestures:-
3 finger swipe up to move to tab to the left
3 finger swipe down to move to tab to the right
3 finger swipe sideways (left/right) moves you back/forward on the webpage/tab you're on
3 finger tap (3 finger 'click' on a link) opens a link in a new tab
Tip-Tap right (any finger on, then tap with a finger to its right) opens a new 'clean' tab (with speed dial present)
Tip-Tap left closes the tab i'm on.

Amazing! Thank you. Better Touch Tool seems to be perfect fit. At least according to this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mr2IiJ0Y0E
What I didn't know though is that moving with two fingers is equivalent to right-clicked move, so that allows me to do the good stuff. The only thing I wasn't able to think out was the middle click that opens new tab in background...but BTT has it all.
