Mail client problem? Or is it just like that?

I really am new to mail clients . . . and I'd setup my @live account on Opera's mail client. When I mark a message as read on the client, it doesn't mark a message as read on mail.live.com .

Is it really like that?

Yes. That's the nature of pop3. With pop3, messages are fetched and you do stuff with them locally. Nothing is synced with the server.

If you desire synchronization, you need to connect via IMAP to an email provider that provides it. Examples: mail.google.com (free, large space) and fastmail.fm (free for 10MB of space. Pay $$ for extra space and features).

Nah, I don't think I'll give fastmail a try. 10MB but with ads and VERY LIMITED FEATURES. Live, Gmail, and Yahoo! will be this 13 yr old's decision wink
