What version?
What OS?
IMAP or POP or both?
Feeds and or newgroups too?
If you've used 10.50/1.51, you probably ran into the nasty bugs they had with attachments. The usual fix for that is:
Upgrade to the latest Opera. (10.53 at the moment).
If that doesn't help:
Close down Opera, delete the cache, opcache, and temporary_downloads folders. See "Help -> About Opera" for the location.
If that doesn't help, you'll need to import the good versions of the messages from your backup mail folder. Look in mail/store/accountN/monthN. There, you will have .mbs files. Open them with a text editor to find which ones are the ones you want. Then, you can import them through file -> import and exprot -> import mail -> generic mbox import. Once imported, you can delete the bad copies. If you need to differentiate the bad copies first, create a filter named "bad", select the bad messages, right-click on the selection, goto show in -> bad -> this filter. Then, the bad ones will be grouped together.

yes, 10.50.... I didn´t know that this bug was widely known.
I am going to skip all this.
My hunch is that the "opera-Mail-database-update-function" did cause this because prior to this stupid new program everything worked fine.
I rather skip opera-mail client now and just take opera@usb.
thx.
