Problem with omailbase.dat... the filters are still there but the emails doesn't
Hello there. It's kind of urgent because I'm working and I just can't get old mails I need... I'll be thankful with your help (and comprehension width my disgusting english). In windows xp, latest version of Opera... I just got a f***ing blue screen of death and now the file omailbase.dat seems to got hurt and is clean. Accounts.ini, index.ini and the mbs files seems to be alright.
Is there any fast way to restore the mail? I've got a LOT of mbs to do that of deleting and importing...
Thanks!!!
Gabriel

Is this with pop or IMAP or both? Do you have any feeds or newsgroups too?
In short though, if omailbase.dat is indeed messed up, you''ll need to Install another Opera (do not upgrade so that it uses a fresh profile) and do a Generic Mbox import into the new Opera. I don't know a way to repair omailbase.dat.
For IMAP accounts, you just add them to your new Opera. No need to import them.
For feeds, you'll lose your downloaded messages. You can goto file -> import ant export -> export feeds list and import the opml file into the new Opera. That will give you your feeds back. But, you'll only get recent messages and you'll have to reapply any update interval changes you made.
For pop accounts, you want to make sure there are no messages on the server first (if possible to do this in your situation. If not, don't worry about it). Then, in the new Opera, you want to create each of your pop accounts. Then, in the new Opera, you want to use file -> import and export -> import mail -> generic mbox -> add folder. The folder you add will be the store/accountN folder in the mail folder of the old Opera. Once you pick the folder, you'll need to pick what account (you just created) you want to *import into*. View accounts.ini (in the old Opera) with a text editor to see which accountN folder belongs to which account. Now, you will lose labels, unread status, filters and what's sent/trash etc. But, you'll get your messages back.
Importing lots of mbs files may take a while. But, that's all you've got to work with unless you have a recent backup of the mail folder.
