Poor topic <a href="http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=64698">title</a>... should have been something like "Disable Bookmark Menu Fade-In Effect".
You could try disabling <a href="opera:config#Enable UI Animations">UI Animations</a>... which also makes everything else "snap" (Tab buttons, pop-up messages, etc), but it may also depend on your OS, and it's menu effects.
