Firefox Faster then Opera real world side by side.

I have been using firefox for quite awhile well from version 1 and have been using there latest nightly 3.7a5 pre.
I was curious about chromes speed and also Opera. Well after using chrome for one day and not trusting google about privacy I quickly uninstalled. I have been using Opera 10.54 latest snapshots and I have been very please with it to an extent.

Yes Opera kicks butt on Peacekeeper and spider test over firefox but in the real world when using both browser on the same websites firefox hands down will have it all on the page before Opera's. Well thats my perceived interpertation of what I see on the screen. Thats with both browsers having to download all new contents of the web page. My connection speed to the net is a constant 25.6 Mbps download and 23.5 Mbps upload.
Also even with fanboys ad blocking entered into opera its still lets a lot of ads in compare to the popular ad block plus and no script add ons for firefox.
I really like Opera it is so far my favorite browser. Well truthfully its a tie with firefox.
I have been using Opera for about two weeks now faithfully not using my firefox at all other than to do my comparisons of websites. I see opera is slower to show most of my websites I goto. for example ArsTechnica, Tomshardware, Anandtech, Fileshack, Wikipedia, and many more
I really hope that Opera will get there rendering the whole page as fast as firefox or even faster its really the only thing that annoys me the most. Plus the annoying waiting for elements to load and load and load and the last stuck element.

So If you have anything to set up in about:config that could get me better performance for my opera please let me know.

Have you tried side by side comparison of websites with firefox and opera??? please do

hate to say this but

some websites dont work in opera(or broken because the admin or the creator dont want to support opera and being a lazy ass)

but when it comes to feature rich browser..opera wins (hands down)

in terms of addons and extensions...opera has it (but bit complicated because you need to do a deep search) not like firefox in ONE website

but for speed king..opera 10.5 wins(firefox 3.7a5 not even close to google or opera this time)

firefox 4 maybe...

All Latest Drivers and Latest Windows Updates.
Using 11.64(Stable) and Soon 12 Final when it release.

I agree that Opera is faster with the test such as Peacekeeper and Sun Spider test.

I was just going by real world at what was displayed on my screen. Firefox seemed to be able to render everything so much faster most of the time.

I'm still using Opera for now and I am using the free AD Munch program to block ads and that did help to speed things to my screen a bit more but it still lags behind what firefox throws onto my screen.

Yes this browser is very feature rich and I like that. It would even be more awesome if real world speed was there on my screen.

Set loading/redraw to "instantly" & Opera will render the webpage ASAP when data are downloaded.
By default, Opera first delay redraw is 1 second.

Go to preferences(ctrl+F12) >Advanced>Browsing and try changing Loading to redraw instantly.
Then go to network(preference>Advanced) and play with Max connections to a server and Max total connections. Higher -> better BUT If you set these values to high it will have negative impact on the browsing speed.
If you wanna go hardcore p press F12 and deselect Enable plug-ins, deselect Enable javascript and make sure that Enable opera turbo is deselected to.

I have my loading to draw instantly it just still seems to be slower than firefox. (my perceived observation of what is drawn on the screen for a website.)

max server connections is set at 20... this setting not so sure about going higher.
while I left max total connections to 64 default but I'll play with this a bit to see what results I get.

Well disable the plugins wouldn't really be beneficial to surfing the web.

I'm still sticking with Opera waiting for big changes. I just downloaded the new Opera Lab webM version 10.54 build 21868. seeing how this build goes.

I'm not too familiar with the builds and such as to which is a branch or a trunck build so if someone has more info please.

I've tried FF 3.7a. None of my extensions worked making it nearly dysfunctional and it crashed frequently. It is quite a bit faster than 3.6 but until its loaded up with extensions doing at least what I have set up with Opera its not a fair comparison.

I've used Opera on and off for years but this is the first time I have ever stuck with it. These latest builds are truly amazing.
