Rapid reloading of whole page.
Rapid reloading of page-bar thumbnail ( the one that is visible on hover ).
Clean install solved the problem for me.

I found that an error message is displayed:
Automatic page updates causing problems with your screen reader? If you are using a screen reader and having problems using Mail, it might help to disable automatic page updates. Please note, this will also disable chat and text messaging within Yahoo! Mail. You can toggle automatic updates on and off using the link below. Disable automatic page updates.
however, I can't even read that error message, because the webpage reloads so fast
what can I do? any idea?
and it seems it is opera's problem, since I don't have problem with other browsers accessing yahoo webmail
also I have Mail Options > General > Social features > Enable updates: DISABLED
but does not fix the problem of continuous rapid reloading

turning off Automatic Redirection in Opera Site Preferences
The problem is older than 9.64 (as MRCS alludes). It was introduced some time after 9.27 and also exists in 9.62. That makes it at least 1.5 years old and even 2 years now if introduced in 9.50.
The problem is complicated in that under some circumstances it also re-enables the "client refresh" setting under Opera config. And obviously re-disabling "client refresh" in Opera config doesn't correct the problem. news.google.com front page has a 15 minute refresh meta tag: and disabling "client refresh" in Opera config doesn't override it, if autoredirection is enabled.
But the "workaround" of turning off Automatic Redirection in Opera Site Preferences does seem to help in 9.62, except as I noted that under some set of circumstances (as yet unknown and irreproducible) "client refresh" setting under Opera config still re-enables itself.
One also needs to be selective for which sites Automatic Redirection is disabled as many login processes (such as gmail) rely on redirection.
This problem does not exist in Opera 9.27 or earlier.

This is not a solution in important cases.
Yahoo mail is also providing webmail service for other, large companies.
For instance, the US provider AT&T has Yahoo provide webmail service for all its customers at
http://att.yahoo.com/mail
Such Yahoo-serviced but non-Yahoo-address mail accounts will not open if Automatic Redirection is turned off.
Last night i logged in and yahoo gave me a message to the effect of "yahoo sucking?" "disable reload and it will fix it" - It gave me a link to do it. I did and now yahoo flys. I cant find where I did it so good luck but that is the problem.
This is it:

fix that and you're golden

I just briefly checked in to see if this problem had been fixed.Fixed? Hell, it hasn't even been acknowledged.
What used to be the best browser has been crap for close to 2 years now. What a shame.

Not for me.
I've put Opera in the same category as Jeff Goldblums character in "The Fly" where he realizes he has mutated so horribly that he puts the shotgun to his head and tells Geena Davis to just shoot him.
