Problem with skinning the "O" Menu Button & Toolbar Button Padding

I'm trying to redesign a downloaded skin (made for an older version of Opera) and I have 2 problems

(1) The "O" Menu Button
I am trying to apply a skin to the "O" menu button, but I'm having difficulty getting rid of the original "O" logo which is still appearing over my new image for the button.

(2) Toolbar Buttons Skins
I don't know how to get rid of the padding around my Toolbar Buttons, even though I think I've set the padding & margin numbers to 0.

I've attached screenshots :
Picture A shows problems (1) & (2).
Picture B shows the final appearance that I want.

I'm new to making skins, so please forgive me if I'm particularly naive about .ini settings. The .ini file has been uploaded with this post.

I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Offhand, you seem to be missing a few things...

The basic "Main Menu" icons:
Main Menu = %path%
Main Menu.hover = %path%
Main Menu.selected = %path%

Because you are missing those from your INI, Opera is just using the settings from the "standard_skin"...

Not too sure about the border/padding issues... could be the same sort of problem, but in your skin.ini you still have positive padding & margin settings for "Toolbar Button Skin" (and .hover .attention, etc)

A decent test, is to change/disable the "fallback" versions, that way it won't take images from the standard skin(s).

You should also be using <a href="opera:config#Debug Skin">Skin Debug</a> or use a <a href="opera:/button/Set%20preference,%22User%20Prefs|Debug%20Skin=1%22,,%22Skin%20Debug%22,%22Blocked%22%20|%20Set%20preference,%22User%20Prefs|Debug%20Skin=0%22,,%22Exit%20Debug%22,%22Blocked%22">Button</a> to toggle back and forth.

Other than that, I'm probably no more experienced than you are... about all I can offer is the stuff in my signature... which, at least the Icon List might be useful.

Many thanks for your reply, Vectronic. Your "Main Menu" icon list worked perfectly. I'm still trying to get the "Toolbar Button Skin" to work but I'll keep experimenting! I am very grateful for your help.

You are missing the [Addressbar Button Skin] section and subsections, look at other skins to see how they use them.

Brilliant !I copied the [Address Button Skin] from a recent skin into my skin.ini file; after a few tweaks it worked brilliantly.

Thanks very much, Sasko88.
