Opera hanging more and more
Since the last update, Opera has been hanging more and more for no apparent reason, no unusual cpu or ram spikes or usage. Just hanging, for no reason. Not on intense sites at all (normal text forums), typically not all that many tabs open.
It would hang every now and then before, but since the last update, it's several times per session.
Unrelated, but whenever I open option (ctrl+f12) and close them, the find bar pops up on every page.
imagine accepting the truth
I agree.
After installing the latest 10.53 on my G4 Mac laptop running OSX 10.4.11 I have to try three or four times just to get the program to start.
Then, as an example, when I try to type in the Google search box I get the Mac beach ball going round and round until the browser catches up.
Then the type fills in all at once.
When I want to turn off the computer or restart it, I have to force quit Opera or it will hang and quit responding.
I was going to make a bug report but they say to check the forums first.
I have seen quite a few posts from people having problems with this latest version.
I hope they get it worked out.
I am a firm supporter of Opera so I will keep my fingers crossed for a fix.

Opera 10.53 with snow leopard 10.6.3 is working flawlessly. I have hacked at everything...unless there are security problems, this is the best release so far. I did love chrome so much...but this version won my heart. Just so you know...snow leopard 10.6.3 is no issue...if you do I would advise looking for the problem elsewhere. Good Luck..
I know this is the wrong forum but I have severe hangs and freezes on my Asus EEEPC using either Windows Opera or Linux Xandros Opera.
I have just surmised that it is the fault of the EEEPC and its puny Celeron processor but I don't know for sure.
I'm using Xandros Linux now and when I renamed my mail folder, starting with a fresh mail folder and deleted contents of the cache folder the freezes became less severe.
Firefox seems to work fine.

Seems to hang within a minute of starting for me, but comes good within a minute of that.
I'm feeling much better now that all the other people in my head and I are working as a team! Well, at least until I ate some of them. Now the rest of us alternate between being not hungry anymore and being really worried, which is never good for the digestion! Burp.

Opera on a Mac can sometimes seem as if it has hung when it is really in a minimized state and there's a ghost image of the window up on the screen. One thing to try is to see if it is minimized somewhere and click that to restore it, or go under the Window option and select a site. If you just have the ghost image of the window up it won't respond since it isn't the full window and thus seems like it has stalled.
