MSI Package for large network deployment
Hi!I have to administrate a corporate network with 150+ clients in an active directory network instrastructure. It's a mess to install my favorite piece of software (I love Opera for many years!) an every client manually by walking over, logging in as domain administrator, installing, logging out...
As you might know there's something called MSI. You can very easy deploy and update software in your network using this installer (instead of the .exe one).
For Firefox I am currently using the FrontMotion Edition which is available here:
http://www.frontmotion.com/FMFirefoxCE/download_fmfirefoxce.htm
Also available, and this is what we Administrators really want besides the MSI package, are 2 ADM templates to configure Firefox very easy and corporate wide via GPO.
If you can provide us with and MSI, I or we would gladly help you out with the ADM templates.
regards,
Wolfgang
Should Opera provide us with an MSI package?

Update:
After browsing the developer forum I found the Opera FTP download server address and guess what: Opera already did it
http://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/win/1053/int/
Enjoy!

Disclaimer: I have about 15 minutes of network deployment experience...
It's already an MSI (excluding "Classic" installer) the problem is that its compressed into an EXE... which it extracts, and then runs... so, all you have to do is run the installer, but don't install it... browse to the temporary directory, something like:
<i>C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temp\{Long GUID}\</i>
And copy the files needed, then exit the main installer (which will automatically delete those temp files)... then run whatever scripts you want on the MSI etc.
Edit: ok... lol
