Automatically generated poll for every wish

This is a good idea in principle - when someone create a wish here, automatically to be generated a poll for this wish - with "Yes/ No" option.
It will be better instead giving votes with "+/- 1", and more appropriate to see which wishes are strongly supported from users or contrariwise.

PS. It sounds a little bit comically, but right now I'm wondering how to insert a poll into this post.. smile

@topic: as long as votes don't push a thread like new posts do -1

Actually, I already found it. One can create a poll only when creating a new topic (a wish). In this case there is a button "Add a poll" bellow the screen. Therefore I can't add a poll in this theme post factum.

Not a good idea. Poll could discourage discussion. People come, vote, and go without posting their thoughts.

Is it better idea to come, see and go without posting their opinion? confused It is a question of will to leave a post and usually if there is not something new for comment, people just leaving the thread. The poll is simplest way to take a participation.

If the topic is not worth discussing, yes.

Voting poll (as oppose to posting +/-1) does not move the topic to top of the forum board. Soon your topic would disappear into page-2 and beyond, and become invisible to those casually browsing. A simple post of +1 or -1 would still keep the topic bumped up and in the first page, keeping the possibility of discussion alive.

If I have something to say I will say it no matter is there a poll or no

I believe you and many other people do. Good for you. smile [Addendum] But I'm not like you and suspect I'm not the only one. [/Addendum]

Anyway I might add, I've seen at least one forum old-hand (with thousands of forum posts) commenting problem with putting poll in his topic is because of people just vote and not comment. Of course this would make the original poster repeatedly bumping the topic up the board (, which is apparently actually against the forum rules).

Had you done that, I'd most likely have not posted my comment, and consequently s-a-s-h would not post his/her comment either.

That observation shall be my last contribution to this topic. Have a good day.

I totally agree with you that voting with poll (as oppose to posting +/-1) does not move the topic to top of the forum - in current situation. I ascertain this every day in Opera forums - finding useful comments at the end of the list of discussions. Perhaps the decision is to take into account the results from poll and dependent of this - put the discussion on corresponding place (top or bottom of list) as important or not.

Addendum: Here in Bg the night just begins, but always is nice to see on-line a good person from other place of the Earth. Have a good day, mimi_s_mum! up

Thank you for your kind words, zapfod. I'm sure we see each other again somewhere in the forums. Take care. smile
