Can I exclude my Antivirus from monitoring Opera cahce dir?

Sometimes while I enter a site my Av gives virus warning for a file in Opera cache dir. Can I exclude my Antivirus from monitoring Opera cahce dir? Is it safe doing this?

But a cached file could still exist in memory even I exit that virusy page? Since I'm not on that page anymore could this file still preserve its existance in Opera or system memory?

Any ideas? Can a virusy page damage the system or Opera via cached files? So can I exclude cache dir from my antivirus?
