Online dating and weird situations.

I have a weird situation.
I met a Japanese woman online about 5 days ago.

We talked about meeting up and she suggested a hotel that quite frankly is a bit out of the way.

Also, she i reluctant to talk on the phone as she is embarrased by her English apparently.

My thoughts and emails to her a few moments ago were, whats wrong with meeting in a bar in a more public place?

Also is it so wrong to want to talk to some one before you meet them.

Am i just paranoid? Maybe she just wants to meet up for sex? Or maybe i'll turn up get robbed and beaten up.

She's pretty keen. Have i tipped over into paranoid madness overlooking something good, or am i just being streetwise?
Surely a hotel is a public place though. Since we met she has removed her profile from the dating site.
I have got the horrors.

I strongly suggest using Google Translate. It may turn out that Hakamichi is Japanese for Gordon.

A bit hasty for a hotel.

I still hate talking on the phone, although I can't really pull the bad pronunciation excuse anymore.

I'd prefer that as well, for various reasons ( you can always go somewhere else, beer selection usually beats any hotel bar etc. )

Not at all.

Not paranoid at all, can't hurt to find out a bit more.

From what you told us I'd say some caution is more than warranted.

Don't expect too much, there are all sorts of psychos out there. Don't get too paranoid either.

As long as she isn't into Oriental martial arts fulfill your curiosity and be thankful she isn't from across the pond.

If you get a weird feeling I'd trust your gut on this one. Who knows if she/he is just going to rob you. Or worse if profile was taken off maybe going to make you her next stalking target. Either way I don't see the harm in meeting in a hotel but in the bar not in a room !

Yeah that wasn't the movie I was thinking about, I saw that one, but the one I am thinking of is about that crazy chick who is a serial killer and it's generally really weird... I think it's Korean.... maybe...

Being robbed might be the best thing to come out of the meeting.

Asking about a movie about a "crazy chick who is a serial killer" is much like asking for one with a brilliant detective who is an alcoholic. I guess you mean Audition. Japanese.

Ftr, I was referring to The Machine Girl.

Anyway, this Audition thing sounds somewhat interesting. According to Wikipedia, "Audition had its share of audience walk-outs. When shown at the 2000 Rotterdam Film Festival, one enraged female viewer confronted Miike by shouting at him: "You're evil!"[2] During uncensored members-only shows at the Irish Film Institute in Dublin in 2001, some patrons collapsed in apparent shock. One audience member was rushed to the St. James's Hospital but later discharged himself.[3]"
