My personal theory is that my father hates airplanes because his city (Rotterdam) was bombed by the Luftwaffe when he was young. And perhaps all the planes flying to England and a couple of years later the same vice versa. p

Both my parents were born in the chaos right after the war. I think in a time like that I'd have other things to do than producing dependants though.

Probably, Berlin and surroundings were pretty much levelled and my fathers parents lived further north at the baltic coast which didn't fare that much better thanks to von Braun's lab being right next door right
