Popup with own window

How can I make a popup open in its own window? My popups are opening in their own tab. I do not like this.

Is it really that hard of a question?

Preferences>Advanced>Tabs>Additional tab options>Open windows instead of tabs

Hi, its now working, but not how I like. Its opening the popup as a full screen.

I am using Windows Live Hotmail Messenger.

If you have a Windows Live Hotmail account and you log into it, you will see a 'People' button thing at the top. When I go into that page and sign in at the top right and click on someone to send them a message, you will see what I mean. Firefox doesn't give me this problem but am hoping to get Opera working with it.

Making the new window open as fullscreen/partial screen/minimized is an action controlled by windows, not opera, so not much can be done there AFAIK

Who said I was using Windows? p but yes I am using Windows.

No, it doesn't have anything to do with Windows. If it did, Firefox wouldn't be getting it right, and every other internet browser I've used.

I would imagine <...target="_new" width="100px" height="100px"> could also prove this.

So the Opera experts are unable to find a solution for this simple problem?

There are no Opera experts here in the forum (apart from some employees in some cases), just users wink

I don't use hotmail, so I can't look how it is suggested to work from the code but im 10.53 you can find 2 settings in the drop-down in Preferences>Advanced>Tabs>Additional tab options:

Always maximize
This opens new tabs generated by page JS or target links which look like windows without chrome in the size the page prefers and:

Always maximize, including popups (sounds like your setting)
which is not what you want, if I understand correctly.

While as you are in the prefs, just take a look at:
Preferences>Advanced>Content>JavaScript Options: Allow resizing of windows

I hope that solves your problems.

Right! Isn't that a trip! We go for help, to the only reasonable place, and the blind are leading the blind. Guess it was my silly misunderstanding that this was a help forum where Opera's own people would explain things to eager-to-learn Opera users like me who used to love this program.... oh, silly me!
