"Add Tags To Bookmarks" - A Mind-Blowing Opportunity!

Consider following situation:

I wish to bookmark two web pages, the one is an article on Programming Basics in general, second is about learning programming language of my choice, let's say C++. I have following bookmarks directories "Programming" and "C++". The "C++" directory resides inside "Programming" directory. Nothing new here.

Let's further assume I would like to show some bookmarks to a friend of mine, which could be interesting to him as well. These bookmarks are all over the Bookmark Directory Tree, depending on the topic. So it would be reasonable to group the bookmarks together without disturbing the bookmark structure (i.e. "John Asked Me" or "For My Mom"). The tagging option would fit in here perfectly.

It would also help to distinguish between uncategorized bookmarks inside the "misc" directory. Third great possibility which is crying for tagging option is... if you use "Opera Link" you could activate the option "Make my Bookmarks Public" and here we've got a social bookmarking service. Just imagine, you pick a site from your local bookmarks, and the dialog tells you "would you like to see bookmarks of other users with the same Tag?". It's a mind-blowing opportunity

The bookmark saving dialog already has a field "Nickname" which as far as I understand is just a shortcut name for the bookmarked page.
Could we bring these two ideas together? In my opinion the "Nickname" option is just a subset of a tagging option.

Let's discuss coffee

Thank you &
Best Regards!

No pressing need to do so. You can edit the bookmarks descriptions too and if you type one of the keywords in the bookmark panels search field, you see all Bookmarks "tagged" with that keyword.

A good solution is to add a "#" to your tags, so that they can be distinguished from normal descriptions, i.e. #tagname1

... but a tagging system like in the mail client with editable tag names would be fine anyway, so:

I support it here in the wish-list as it is asked for by andreasbovens here:

The other thread linked by the OP is about something related but not the same. I support the explicit wish for tagging of bookmarks.
