At least on MacOS opera could use the systems address book instead of having there own address book. And thinking of it: Windows has a system address book as well. And both sync with google, or mobile me, or your phone.
And it is not like the opera address book offers any added value. In fact it is quite a primitive address book wise. So there would be a definite plus in just dropping the opera address book in favour to an interface into the system's address book.
