What are Opera Community Internships About?

I noticed a posting <a href="http://my.opera.com/community/blog/the-community-project-apply-for-an-opera-internship">The Community Project: Apply for an Opera internship</a>

The post seeks:

"[T]rainees with a passion for social media, Web technology and the mobile Internet. You will be responsible for building and growing our user base in either Brasil, Egypt, Mexico, South Africa or our "Wild Card" (your home market). The internship is in Opera's headquarters in Oslo, Norway."

The post did not include the U.S. or any EU country. I would assume that Opera already has people in these countries.

I was not aware of Opera doing much in the way of marketing beyond issuing press releases.

Does anyone know anything about this program, what the people in it do, and how do you contact them?

The post didn't say anything about language. Something seems odd here. A Norwegian company is advertising in English for an Arabic speaker from Egypt willing to work in Oslo to market in Egypt. Could someone explain this?

Ignorance is bliss, I guess. Opera does all sorts of stuff, including banner ads.

There's nothing odd here. If someone livs in an Arabic speaking country, they will already speak Arabic. He will also speak English, because he will have to be able to communicate with other people at Opera.

Is English the languge at the Opera office in Oslo?

Perhaps you could also tell us what these people do.

How could someone contact the person who covers their country?

Because the language requirements differs from region to region. If you had followed each of the "Apply as a Marketing Trainee for ****" links in that page, you'd have found out what specific language requirements for respective regions.

I should imagine so. I've quickly skimmed through a half a dozen job openings based in Norway ( http://www.opera.com/company/jobs/list/?dept=all&location=no ) and found the language requirements for the applicants to be languages in the target market plus English, as prd3 have said. It is a given fact that English is the most widely taught foreign language.

Again click on "Apply as a Marketing Trainee for ****" links and find out yourself.

They have dozens of different nationalities there. What do you think?

Perhaps you could also tell us what these people do.
