Opera 10.53 won't remember passwords

I have switched to Opera a while ago and am currently using version 10.53 for Mac. The only issue I have with the browser is that it just won't remember any passwords. Password Manager is enabled and the grey password bar pops up when I enter a password on a website. Although I click "save", the password won't be remembered the next time I visit the exact same site. The only things Opera does remember are the auto-fill information.
I have searched the forum, but haven't come across this problem. I'd be grateful for any solutions.

there is an icon (appears only when you visit a site with stored password) next to forward/back button

use that.

I'm facing a similar problem, however I'm using windows. This is the only irritating part of the new version.

I have had this problem when updating between Opera versions, it remembers user names but not passwords and I am not sure of how to fix this. Has anyone else had this particular issue?

Yes, I have. Every time I switch on my computer again, all passwords are gone. The box for that is unchecked, I let Opera save all the passwords I entered, they are all nice and neat in Password Manager but it won't remember none while the computer is shut off. A real pain!
