Teaparty who?

Can the tea party legitimately be considered an actual political party? I mean what is it they believe besides the fact that the civil rights act should never have occurred, and that Obama is inherently evil? I think that the tea party is full of crap and that they should be written off in ALL aspects of government, they need to back off and let the real politicians handle things. But what do you guys think?

Consider TEA short for Taxed Enough Already… Is it an actual party? No. It's a movement — like the Civil Rights movement.

I would argue with you about your characterizations, but –given the resources available to you– I can only think of one reason for such blatant ignorance. Perhaps you could enlighten me? I could be wrong…

Who got overhyped by faux news when the majority of them most likely got a tax break and by the look of it most of them don't pay income tax anyways. Makes about as much sense as the rest of their incoherent babble.

It's astroturfery at its finest.

Besides, there is already a thread for all your teabagging needs.

So there is, a thread devoted to discussing the Tea Party Movement — in the finest D&D tradition: Mostly "incoherent babble." But the OP (missBaBz) apparently missed it. I've just read a large sampling of it…

Thank you for bringing the fatuous fervent flavor here posthaste! But, had you read the original post, you'd have known, that angle was already covered.

Haven't we already GOT a thread about the Tea Party over there so why do we need another one?

D&D isn't about need, rj. It's about — hm, what is it about nowadays?

I'd prefer to talk about the original Boston Tea Party… (Either Sam Adam's errant Mohawks or the mansion nightclub for teenagers; James Otis battling writs of assistance through to the Stamp Act and the Tea Act or Mountain's performance pushing their one and only top 40 hit.) But who'd be interested?

Discussing politics mainly, with the occasional religious and random thread thrown in for flavor.

Same here.
The modern group totally tarnishes what the original Teabaggers were all about. right

The original group, they weren't "teabaggers", dawg; and characterizing the modern group so isn't discussing politics…

Quite right. They dumped unbagged tea.

I suppose —considering the folk here now— some sort of serious reply is warranted. :sigh:

The "Throw the bums out!" idea can't help but draw me, and any possibility of a coalition between groups (actually, the disaffected members of various groups…) based on an understanding of the proper role of tax policy, that encourages me. But, no: I'm not a "member" of the movement. I attend no rallies, listen to no speeches, subscribe to no party organs.
Of course, by nature, I'm not a joiner. (Heck, I'm not even a Mason…although I could be. smile)

The modern group, styled the Tea Party Movement, is quite similar to the original perpetrators of the Boston Tea Party: The most vocal and indiscreet among those swayed by Old Sam's arguments did, likely, hope to brew revolution by dumping a boatload of tea into the harbor… But most simply took in the situation and hoped for a sensible resolution to their current and prolonged state of grievance, which could hardly help coming up in even casual conversation.
Eventually — well, you know what happened.

Does that answer satisfy you, Dawg?
