Loss of popmail access to Operamail email services

I am currently unable to access Operamail email via popmail, although I still have web access. Is anyone else having the same problem? Does anyone know of a service page where this kind of outage is reported? Or of a site where I can report the problem?

I hope that Opera's recent purchase of Fastmail will result in a better email service for all Operamail users. Although I pay for the Premium Service, it has to be said that the "Operamail" part of Opera is at present one of its less appealing features. sad

Haven't been able to access via POP since yesterday. Similar problem occurred a month ago (posts still up.)
I have this email address entrenched into too many of my affairs to lightly discard it. However, if similar problems continue, I'll have little choice.

I hope these outages don't become too regular. After using opera web mail for nearly 15 years I don't fancy having to change. Perhaps someone from Opera tech support can let us know what's happening rather than leaving us hanging in mid air.

Found out from Opera Web Mail Support that the USERNAME FORMAT changed.

Where before my username was "username:operamail.com#operamail.com", it is now simply my email address. POP3 access was restored with that simple change.

The change is OK with me. I'm also glad to find out Opera acquired a new (and hopefully better) email service.

The process by which this was NOT communicated is NOT OK with me.

It is Opera's job to notify its users of changes. Common sense customer service = pushing out information that users wouldn't know they need to know.

Many thanks horseshrink for providing a solution to resolve the popmail access problem. As with Bernard, your solution also worked for me.

Is there any chance of letting us know where you managed to get hold of "Opera Web Mail Support". I did once contact them (and even got a response) but it was a while ago and I've lost the address.

One question remains and that is why operamail users were not informed that this change of username format was taking place in advance of it happening. I'm not too happy with that.

This worked for me as well. However, not at first. I changed the user name to my email address and still got the error. On a hunch, I re-entered my password. Then it worked.

I too have been a loyal support of Opera since version 3.x and gladly paid for each version - not that I am not glad that it is now free smile. But at this stage I would not suggest anyone get an Operamail account. I hope things change with the FastMail purchase.

I can get plenty of storage, POP and IMAP access with gmail.

I reached support at http://www.opera.com/support/contact/?help=operamail

The pain of changing my email addresses throughout my affairs remains yet a little greater than the inconveniences caused by Operamail. At this point, that is my only reason for keeping this email address.

Perhaps, with time, a new and greater email service quality will emerge to augment my motive for staying with Operamail?
