Independent developer contributions to Opera Mini code
Does Opera have any process for accepting code contributions to Opera Mini from independent developers?I am a postgrad Computer Science student doing research in the field of Information and Communication Technology for Development (ICT4D) - basically the intersection of Economics, Sociology and Computer Science research that is concerned with how technology can be made to work better for the benefit of the poorest communities in the world.
As part of my research I will need to use a browser such as Opera Mini that runs on pure Java ME CLDC / MIDP devices, but with (relatively) slight modifications that will not be in the development roadmap of any browser currently in the market. I'm expecting that I would write that code myself, but I obviously don't want to have to write an entire browser just to include slight variations.
Regards,
Fritz

No, we don't. And Opera Mini isn't open source.
I realise that Opera Mini isn't open source... was hoping that there was some special agreement that could be reached (for instance I see you have agreements for OEMs). Can you confirm that there is absolutely no way of piloting something similar for academic use? I see only benefits for Opera and basically no cost - if what I produced didn't work Opera could throw it away at the end of my programme.
Why don't you apply for a job with Opera, then?
