I don't know, but it looks like it doesn't load the images? It has might something to do with your settings?

Hmm, random shot in the dark here, go to the O menu, settings, delete private data, clear your speed dial pages so you have a clean speed dial, restart opera. Make sure in delete private data that passwords manager is unticked, along with e-mail passowrds and password protected pages. Everything else keep ticked. When you restart opera try making new speed dials, see how it goes

I already tried that ... I also removed Opera and re-installed it .. But of course that didn't help because he kept the same Speed Dial miniatures as when I had it installed the first time ...

Could it maybe be something with Flash or Java or something like that ?! Shockwave maybe ??
I got them all installed and Up to date but still ... could that maybe be the problem ?

Have you tried removing the Thumbnails folder from your profile. In Windows 7 it's in Users - name - AppData - Local - Opera I can't remember exactly where it is in XP, but it'll be in the Application Data folder.
A straight line may be the shortest distance between two points, but it is by no means the most interesting.

Opera 12.16 build 1860 on Windows 8 (and I'll be sticking with version 12 and not 'upgrading')

C:\Users\****\AppData\Local\Opera\Opera (**** = your username on your PC)

Very helpful suggestion thanks.
I had the same problem with Opera 10.54 under Win XP - the speed dial page thumbnails which had been fine suddenly and for no apparent reason all looked like I had "no images" selected but I hadn't.
Read the thread above and found the path to application data folder to follow the advice of removing the thumbnails folder and found there was no such thing as a folder called thumbnails....
So I created a new empty folder with that name and went back to speed dial where one by one I selected 'reload' and hey presto all the thumbnails went back to normal.
Spooky things computers.......
Go ahead and play the blues if it'll make you happy.

Well, guys. Maybe some of you can help me with this because... I have exactly the same problem (my speed dial images look like in the picture above in this thread) with the only little difference that I'm using the Linux version. Of course I've tried several times deleting the .png files in the thumbnails, but to no avail: whenever I reload a speed dial, it loads the wrong thumbnail.
Actually. I've tried with a brand new home Opera folder, backing up the old one, and the result was: yesterday the speed dial thumbnails were looking normal, and today they don't: speedial.png

So, the problem must reside somewhere else than in the thumbnails folder. Maybe some of the preferences (that I was changing yesterday, before the problem started) is interferring with the proper functioning of speed dial?

Thanks a lot.

Ok, I found the solution. It's here: http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=552821 ("Fit to width" must be unticked in the Preferences)
By the way, this is fucking disgusting, sorry to say. Thumbs down for Opera developers. sad

Had this problem from 10.50 onward
I found by transferring your settings across when updating builds went well till 10.50 then speed dial was corrupted ,better to drop speed dial from the settings transfer when going to builds 10.50 and up

Also skins from a older build can cause problems
